Coach and Voice Umpire (On-Device Processing)

Section added: September 30, 2026

The Coach and Voice Umpire features of our mobile app use your phone's camera, microphone and speech recognition to record matches, keep score and analyse play. This processing takes place on your device only: we do not upload video, audio, speech or biometric data to our servers. If you let the app recognise players, it stores face embeddings (a numeric description of a face) and a thumbnail only on your phone, and only after you confirm that the person agreed to be remembered; the time of that confirmation is stored with them. You can forget a remembered person with one tap, which deletes their face data from your phone and removes them from saved matches. On Android, the speech recognition model for your language is downloaded once from alphacephei.com (the Vosk project); this download sends none of your data. On iPhone, speech recognition runs on the device (iOS may download its own language files from Apple). Match results reach League of Spin only if you choose to log a match.
